Man United & Liverpool chase “untouchable” Bundesliga star, clause twist could complicate deal

Stuttgart midfielder Angelo Stiller has been linked with a move to the Premier League in recent months.

According to FussballDaten, Manchester United and Liverpool are reportedly interested in securing his signature. The German International midfielder has a contract with Stuttgart until 2028 and includes a €40 million release clause.

However, they have an option to remove the release clause by paying €2 million, and the German club could demand around €65 million for the midfielder in the summer, if they manage to remove his release clause over the next few weeks. Stuttgart view the player as “untouchable”.

The two Premier League clubs are closely monitoring the player and hoping to secure his signature in the summer. Manchester United need a quality replacement for Casemiro, and the 24-year-old German International could be ideal for them. He is excellent at protecting the back four and winning the ball back for his team. He will allow the creative players to operate with more freedom. In addition to his defensive qualities, he is quite accomplished on the ball and has been compared to Toni Kroos. 

It will be interesting to see if Manchester United is willing to break the Bank for him. 

Meanwhile, Liverpool could use more quality and depth in the middle of the park as well. They need a reliable defensive midfielder, and Stiller would be an excellent addition. His arrival will allow Ryan Gravenberch to operate in his natural role. The Netherlands International has been used as a defensive midfielder, but he has struggled in that role. 

Both Premier League clubs could be exciting destinations for the midfielder. It will be interesting to see where he ends up. 

The player is reportedly looking for a salary of around €7-9 million per season. The two Premier League clubs have the financial muscle to accept his demands. It remains to be seen whether they come forward with an official offer in the summer.
