Herron: Performance Reflective Of The Result

0 0

Scarlett Herron admits the team "let frustrations boil into our performance" as Hibs Women were disappointingly held to a goalless draw by Partick Thistle.

The centre-back restricted the visitors at Meadowbank to very few looks at goal throughout, but a lack of clinical edge up the other end left the Hibees extremely frustrated.

The point extends our unbeaten league run to eight matches, but Herron - and the squad - remain thoroughly dissatisfied by the result against the sixth-place Jags.

"In the changing room, we're all very disappointed in ourselves more than anything," she revealed to Hibs TV.

"The performance wasn't good enough and that was reflected in the result. It was a really frustrating game.

"Credit to Partick, they set up well and they caused a lot of issues when we were trying to go forward. It was very frustrating.

"They stuck to their game plan and we tried to break them down, but it was that sort of final pass, maybe in the final third that was lacking and it was just the overall pace of the game.

"We weren't quick enough to get the ball back into play when it went out, and they slowed the game down and we let them do that which affected our performance.

"You have to be able to adapt to a number of different teams in the league because every team plays a different style.

"We just let them get to us today and we let frustrations boil into our performance, and overall it just wasn't good enough."

A hiatus from ScottishPower Women's Premier League action allows for reflection for the entire team, who will be split across those on international duty and those remaining at HTC.

Herron believes this will provide a "great opportunity" for the team to reset ahead of the final five fixtures.

"Obviously it's a great opportunity for all the girls who are going away to be able to represent their country which is always brilliant.

"For us who stay back, it'll just be back to the drawing board.

"We'll get a good few weeks training before the Celtic game and then lean into a Friday night fixture in about two weeks' time. So we'll look forward to that."
