Who will be the best Serie A scorer in 2025-26?
It’s still all left to play for in Serie A, from the title race to the fight for survival, and several candidates can claim the Capocannoniere crown for the 2025-26 campaign.
Inter star Lautaro Martinez is the current Serie A top goalscorer after 30 rounds, having netted 14 times so far this season.
Bookmakers at winspirit3.com see El Toro as the leading candidate to be crowned as the league’s top-scorer this term, but, as usual in Serie A, it’s fair to expect several twists and turns in the final games of the campaign.
Como’s Anastasios Douvikas is somehow a surprise in second place with 11 goals so far, and even the third-ranked Udinese’s Keinan Davis was not predicted to be so high in the standings at this stage of the campaign.
The former Aston Villa striker, who joined the Bianconeri for just €3m in 2023, has netted 10 goals so far, as many times as Rasmus Hojlund (Napoli), Kenan Yildiz (Juventus) and Nico Paz (Como).
Hojlund returned to Serie A from Manchester United last summer and had already spent one season in Serie A at Atalanta.
He’s technically on loan from the Red Devils, but the Partenopei have already decided to make his move permanent.
“We did everything we could to sign him. There were more storied clubs interested, but his will was crucial, and we are proud of it,” Napoli director Giovanni Manna said in December.
“We had no doubts. Rasmus is decisive with numbers and in how he interprets the coach’s input. This makes a difference.
“There’s an option to buy and an obligation to buy if we qualify for the Champions League. The player considers himself a Napoli player, and so do we. This is extremely important.”
Manna added that Hojlund’s permanent move to the Stadio Maradona was just a “formality”, so the Danish international will continue to wear the Azzurri jersey in the 2026-27 campaign.
The best Italian goalscorers in Serie A after Round 30 are Atalanta’s Gianluca Scamacca and Fiorentina’s Moise Kean.
The latter was the second-top goalscorer in Serie A last term, after Mateo Retegui, who is no longer playing in Italy’s top flight following a big-money move to Saudi Pro League side Al Qadsiah last summer.
The race for the Capocannoniere award in Serie A remains wide open with eight games remaining, and Lautaro Martinez remains the favourite to win the award despite being currently sidelined with an injury.
Lautaro, a 2022 Argentina World Cup winner, was already crowned the best scorer in Serie A during the 2023-24 campaign, contributing to Inter‘s 20th domestic title with 24 goals.
