Adams: Scoring The Winner Makes It 'Sweeter'
Eilidh Adams described Hibs Women's performance against Glasgow City as "not the prettiest" but getting the three points was "the main thing" to take away from the win.
After a difficult first half at Petershill Park, Hibs came out fighting after the break and grabbed the winning goal in the 51st minute, as Adams herself spectacularly found the top left-hand corner to seal the victory for Hibs.
"I think it was probably not our best game of football, especially that first half," Adams told Hibs TV. "We weren't very happy at half-time.
"We had a bit of a get-together as a team and wanted to right those wrongs from the first half. It just wasn't really a fight from us. I think we've come out in the second half, and we've done that.
"Maybe, again, it was not the best football, not the prettiest football, but we've got the three points, which is the main thing."
Adams' stunning strike is a Goal of the Season contender for the Hibees.
The versatile attacker won the ball from the hosts in the middle of the park and dribbled her way to 20 yards from goal, where she had space for a shot and found the net brilliantly - a finish she admits was “definitely” one of her best in her career.
"I don't really score goals like that, that often, and it's something I'm trying to add to my game.
"I think for me, it's obviously really nice, but also for it to be the winner and to help the team get the three points makes it even sweeter."
Adams received a Scotland 'A' Squad call-up from Melissa Andrietta last week, and she revealed her delight at returning to the squad.
"I think, obviously, for me personally, I'm delighted to be back involved with the squad again.
"I think it's been my ambition. Obviously, I was involved with the squad about this time last year, and I've had to work back into it.
"It's really nice for me. I think this goal probably tops it off as well."
Adams' unbelievable finish was her 15th goal of the campaign in all competitions, and she said she'll be "pushing to try and score more goals" before the conclusion of the campaign.
Adams and Hibs Women return to action this Sunday (5 April) as they welcome Partick Thistle to Meadowbank; granting our number nine her next opportunity to get amongst the goals.
"I think it'll be a tough game. Obviously, all the games in the split are really tough, and they've been doing well recently.
"Maybe they've not got the points on the board, but I think they've been really competing against the teams in the top half.
"So, for us, we know it's going to be a difficult game. I think being back at Meadowbank is always nice, and hopefully we get a good turnout from the crowd.
"Obviously, coming off the back of a good result from tonight will really help us, but we'll definitely not take it lightly."
