Woking vs Altrincham

Enterprise National League

Tuesday 31st March

19:45 Kick-Off

After back-to-back away days, the Cards return to the Laithwaite Community Stadium on Tuesday evening, hosting an Altrincham side who currently sit in 15th.

Last time out, the Cards registered their first loss of the month, with a spirited performance seeing title-chasers York City only able to break through from the spot.

Now attention turns to Tuesday, as a lengthy journey for Altrincham sees them take to Surrey with the hope of avenging the reverse fixture.

Indeed, at the J. Davidson Stadium, back on October 18th, the Cards took the lead through former loanee Boatswain, before Jimmy Knowles then levelled for Alty. It was Turner who ensured his side went in ahead at the break, before a late penalty, converted by Kelly, confirmed all three points.

Woking will, therefore, be looking to secure the league double over the Robins, alongside taking the opportunity to extend their unbeaten home run of 2026.

A promising sign, the last time Woking hosted Altrincham, in December 2024, the Cards ran out 2-1 victors at the Laithwaite Community Stadium.

Opposition Watch

A side who were perhaps disappointed to miss out on a play-off spot last campaign, following a season where they acquired fourth place, have this season struggled to put a run of form together in the league.

Indeed, a total of 47 points from 40 games has seen them victorious on 14 occasions, with 5 draws and a total of 21 losses the story of their season so far.

A troubled away record sees them take to Surrey having won just three league games on the road this campaign, their last being against a struggling Brackley Town on February 28th. Last time out, their struggles away from home continued, with a narrow 1-0 loss against Solihull.

They will now look to bounce back in Surrey, to seize crucial points that could see them rise in the mid-table battle.

They will have to do it without Declan Howe, however, who has recently been recalled by his parent club, Scunthorpe, after a short loan spell saw him look threatening in front of goal, where he tallied four goals in eight appearances.

One to Watch

Having netted against Woking in the reverse fixture, Knowles will already be a familiar name to the Cards, with that goal also becoming his fourth in three consecutive games for Alty.

Although goalscoring responsibility has been largely shared for the Robins, most notably between Knowles, Oliver Crankshaw, and James Gale, Knowles’ tally of 15 across all competitions this season sees him lead the pack.

Indeed, he has come up with goals in key moments for the Robins so far this term, making his mark from the outset with a 78th-minute winner against Aldershot on the league’s opening day.

One who is certain to be a key player for the remainder of the campaign, Knowles will strive to continue his influence in Surrey.
