Tottenham could sign their ‘ideal deep-lying playmaker’ for just £30m this summer
Tottenham Hotspur have just heard some good news regarding a midfield starlet they are keen on landing this summer.
Spurs have had plenty of success when it comes to signing teenage midfield starlets over the last few years.
The likes of Archie Gray, Lucas Bergvall and Pape Sarr are all worth much more than the fees they arrived for, and it has now emerged that the Lilywhites are now ready to repeat the trick with a young Belgian starlet.
It has been widely reported over recent weeks that Tottenham have turned their attention to an Anderlecht starlet, but they face plenty of competition for his services.
Tottenham can land Nathan De Cat for a relative bargain
Last week, it emerged that Tottenham’s scouts had been impressed by 17-year-old midfielder Nathan De Cat.
That report, which came from TEAMtalk, claimed that Spurs view the Belgian teenager as the ‘ideal deep-lying playmaker’ for their system.
Now, a new update from Voetbal 24 has claimed that Anderlecht are willing to cash in on De Cat this summer.
The outlet states that the Jupiler Pro League club are expected to demand £30.4m for the midfielder, making it a relative bargain for Spurs if it is true that the North London club do view the youngster as their ideal midfield signing.
De Cat’s price could increase before the summer window opens
Tottenham are not the only club interested in De Cat, who is reportedly also being followed closely by Man United and Aston Villa ahead of the summer.
There is thus a risk that a bidding war could emerge for the 17-year-old and push up his price.
Additionally, De Cat has now been called up to the senior Belgium squad for the first time during the international break, and should he impress for the Red Devils in a World Cup year, there is a possibility of his value shooting up further.
