Carrick makes 1 big change | Predicted Man Utd XI vs Bournemouth with £37m star dropped
Manchester United take on Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium in tonight’s Premier League game.
The Red Devils returned to winning ways with a 3-1 victory over Aston Villa last weekend.
They have a handy three-point lead over fourth-placed Villa and can boost their Champions League pursuit further by beating the Cherries on the road.
Ahead of the encounter, manager Michael Carrick could make a solitary change to the starting XI.
Formation: 4-2-3-1
Predicted Line-up:
Senne Lammens has been United’s first-choice goalkeeper since his debut against Sunderland in October. The Belgian will be eyeing his sixth clean sheet of the league campaign.
The defence looks set to be unchanged. Matthijs de Ligt and Patrick Dorgu are long-term injury absentees. Lisandro Martinez has likewise not recovered from a calf issue.
Noussair Mazraoui could miss the game too due to illness. Diogo Dalot and Luke Shaw are guaranteed starters in the full-back positions, while Harry Maguire will partner Leny Yoro in central defence.
Similarly, Carrick has no need to contemplate a change in midfield. Casemiro has been in superb form since he confirmed his decision to leave the club at the expiry of his contract this summer.
The Brazilian has already notched up seven goals this campaign, his joint-highest scoring season. He will be aiming to add more goals as the club seek to secure Champions League football.
Kobbie Mainoo has been ever-present alongside Casemiro in the heart of the midfield. His impressive showing under Carrick could see him return to the England squad this morning.
In the final third, there could be a solitary change on the cards. Amad Diallo was swapped into the line-up for Benjamin Sesko last weekend. The Ivorian started on the right wing with Bryan Mbeumo upfront.
Mbeumo was far from his best as a makeshift number nine and could return to his customary role on the right side of United’s attack, with Sesko poised to be reinstated as the centre-forward.
Sesko has been tremendous under Carrick with five goals. Four of those have come off the bench, including one against Villa. The Slovenian’s return could see Amad drop out of the starting XI against the Cherries.
Amad, signed for £37 million from Atalanta, has yet to make a goal contribution since Carrick took interim charge. The rest of the line-up should be unchanged. Bruno Fernandes is an undisputed starter in the number 10 position.
Fernandes bagged his 15th and 16th assists of the league season against the Villans. Matheus Cunha scored from a wonderful counter-attack and is expected to continue on the left wing.
