Gosport Borough vs Poole Town – Match Preview
We made hard work of the home win over Taunton Town last Saturday, but we were pleased to secure the points with a 2-1 win. There were three matches on Tuesday evening which will have a huge bearing on the top 5 finishing places. Walton & Hersham continued their fine form with a 4-1 win over Wimborne Town, Farnham came from a goal down to Dorchester Town on 90 minutes to earn the points with two added time strikes and Plymouth Parkway pulled off something of a shock with a 3-1 home win over 6th placed Chertsey Town.
All this moves us down to fourth place with 8 games, 3 home and 5 away, to go. It’s going to be a terrific end to the season.
This Saturday we travel to Privett Park to take on 7th placed Gosport Borough, who will still be hopeful of securing a play-off spot themselves. We lost 1-0 to them at home in November, a Dan Wooden strike being the difference, so we will be eager not to let them do the double over us.

As we know the club is managed by Glenn Howes who will need no introduction to the travelling supporters. Glenn is well known to us and wore the Dolphins red and white until his playing career was sadly brought to a premature end. Since then, he has been a very successful coach at Blackfield & Langley, Dorchester Town and now Gosport Borough. As a player he represented Eastleigh, Basingstoke, Newport, Gosport, Dorchester and Poole. He has gained a great deal of experience at this level.
Gosport have a very beneficial relationship with championship Portsmouth FC and have recently loaned one of their rising stars Tayo Singerr, who scored on his debut last week at Bracknell Town.
We have moved up to 2nd place in the away form table after taking 11 points from our last 6 matches on the road, and we are 6th in the overall form table after gaining 13 points from our last six matches.
What a run in we can expect with all the top ten teams still in contention for a play-off place. Let’s get behind the lads as we look to keep picking up those valuable away points.
Enjoy the game.
Neil Wellington.
