‘We hope today is a turning point’ – Igor Tudor spots ‘amazing’ attribute in Tottenham squad

0 1

Igor Tudor reveals what he thinks was key to Tottenham’s draw against Liverpool following the team’s late setback ahead of the encounter.

Looking at the Tottenham Hotspur starting eleven and bench options at Anfield, hardly anyone would have given them a chance of getting something from the game.

The North Londoners were heading to Merseyside on the back of six straight losses, and the players’ confidence appeared to be shattered after their humiliating defeat against Atletico Madrid just a few days prior.

However, a beleaguered and weakened Tottenham showed against Liverpool that they still have plenty of fight left in them as they look to pull themselves out of relegation trouble.

Igor Tudor hails Tottenham’s ‘team spirit’ after Liverpool draw

The Croat lauded the team spirit and fight that his players showed at Anfield, insisting that they were fully deserving of the point.

Tudor revealed that Spurs were forced into late personnel and tactical changes due to Conor Gallagher being ruled out, and he is hopeful that the result can be a turning point for the club.

Tudor told Sky Sports (15/03/26): “It is an amazing, incredible point we take here, and deserving. We showed team spirit. Congratulations to the guys.

“It is very difficult to even explain our circumstances. In training, we prepared in one way. This morning, Conor [Gallagher] says that he is not able to play, so we need to change the players and positions. The moment is really strange and even more challenging to show who we are. The players were really amazing.”

When asked how he changed the tactics, Tudor said: “In attack we tried something different. In this moment, it’s difficult to work on a structure in attack so we try to simplify it otherwise, it can get more difficult. The style of football is what it is, and I think it’s a good start. “

“The team spirit was amazing. This was the main demand. The quality is there. Every point is crucial; we are just going game by game. We hope today is a turning point.”

Tudor dismisses speculation over his future

Over the last few days, reports had indicated that Tottenham could replace Tudor after the clash against Liverpool, but the Croat may have bought himself some time after picking up his first point since arriving at the club.

The former Juventus boss was not too keen to answer any questions about his own future following his side’s draw on Sunday.

When asked about his position being under threat, Tudor said: “In every club in the world, it is the same [as Tottenham] when there is not a good result. The change of coach gives ‘hope’ but the problem stays. The coach needs to solve the problem.

“Journalists like to ask these questions but it doesn’t make sense. The coaches are obliged to ask these questions, otherwise they like to stay at home. You insist with the same questions.”
