Tottenham look to capitalise on PSG selection decision to sign Guglielmo Vicario replacement
Tottenham Hotspur have set their sights on a goalkeeper who ended their hopes of a second European trophy in the space of three months.
There could be a lot of changes made to the Tottenham first-team squad this summer, with some big names rumoured to be on the move.
The goalkeeping position is one area which could look different soon, as Spurs have been tempted to sell Guglielmo Vicario due to how he is viewed by the supporters.
James Trafford has been linked with a move to Tottenham, and he is not the only shot-stopper under the North London club’s consideration.
Tottenham could attempt to sign Lucas Chevalier
According to Media Foot, Spurs are interested in signing Lucas Chevalier from Paris Saint-Germain.
The 24-year-old only joined the Ligue 1 team last summer, and he has kept 10 clean sheets in 26 appearances. However, Chevalier has been dropped in favour of Matvey Safonov, and has not played a game for PSG since January.
Tottenham are therefore looking to capitalise on this situation, and an approach has been made to ask about signing the Frenchman.
Chevalier has played against Spurs twice since joining PSG
Spurs are familiar with Chevalier, as he made his PSG debut in the UEFA Super Cup. The man between the sticks conceded two goals that night, but he was the hero in the penalty shootout.
When Tottenham met PSG in the Champions League a few months later, Chevalier conceded three goals. Despite this, the French side were once again victorious over Thomas Frank’s Spurs.
Ultimately, Chevalier could be signed at a cut-price deal if he is not starting matches, so he could be an attractive option for Tottenham.
Still, his record is nothing particularly special, and someone like Trafford comes across as a bit more reliable, as well as being proven in English football.
