Disaster for Tottenham as Igor Tudor could miss another two senior stars for Liverpool clash

0 0

Things are going from bad to worse for Tottenham Hotspur, who may have lost two more of their senior men to freak injuries.

Spurs had yet another disastrous night in Madrid on Tuesday as they fell to a 5-2 loss to Atletico Madrid in the first leg of their Champions League round of 16 tie.

The result comes at a time when the pressure was already growing on Tudor, who has now lost all four of his games in charge of the Lilywhites after taking over from Thomas Frank.

Cristian Romero and Joao Palhinha could miss Tottenham’s clash against Liverpool

To make matters worse, in the latter stages of the clash at the Metropolitano Stadium, Joao Palhinha and Cristian Romero were involved in a nasty clash of heads.

Both the midfielder and the centre-back received treatment on the pitch, but neither of them was able to continue.

The Sun now reports that if the pair had been withdrawn with a concussion, that would mean that neither of them can take to the field for Tottenham’s clash at Anfield this Sunday.

This is because the FA and Premier League protocols state that players who are concussed are not allowed to feature in a competitive game for at least six days.

Will the Liverpool clash spell the end for Igor Tudor at Spurs?

Reports indicate that Tudor is expected to take Tottenham’s press conference on Friday ahead of their trip to Merseyside, which suggests that he will be in charge for Sunday’s clash.

However, Micky van de Ven has already been suspended for the Liverpool match, and if Romero and Palhinha are also ruled out, Spurs will have to start with a Kevin Danso and Radu Dragusin pairing at Anfield.

It appears that a heavy defeat against the Reds would likely spell the end for Tudor in North London, particularly with a relegation six-pointer against Nottingham Forest coming up on March 22.
