Must watch: JJ Gabriel’s brilliant goal for Manchester United U18s that has fans talking

0 3

Manchester United U18s continued their impressive form, beating Nottingham Forest 5-2 at Carrington in the U18 Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

JJ Gabriel stole the show again, scoring a brilliant goal in the seven-goal thriller. He has now scored for the fifth consecutive league game.

Jay McEvoy opened the scoring in the 25th minute, putting the ball into an empty net after winning possession on the edge of the box.

JJ Gabriel doubled the young Reds’ lead in the 37th minute, mesmerizing his marker before rifling an unstoppable shot under the crossbar.

Louie Bradbury missed a big chance to add to United’s lead after being put through on goal, only to fail to beat the goalkeeper.

Gabriel made it 3-0 before half-time with another brilliant effort. The 16-year-old picked up possession, and showed brilliant footwork before powering the ball into the top corner.

Shortly after the restart, Bradbury made amends for his earlier miss, heading Nathaniel Junior-Brown’s cross into the net.

Substitute Kai Rooney, who scored in the U18 Premier League Cup victory over West Ham United on Wednesday, came close to adding to the tally, but saw his effort saved.

Gabriel smashed the woodwork as United pushed to increase their goal difference following brilliant work from Noah Ajayi.

A rare Forest attack resulted in a penalty which was converted by Riko Robinson.

United responded swiftly, with Ajayi restoring United’s four-goal lead, cutting inside to beat the goalkeeper at the near post.

Forest’s Basima Balgizi scored with a tap-in late on, bringing an end to an exhilarating contest.

Despite the victory, Darren Fletcher’s side still trail leaders Manchester City by one point.

The young Reds will look to extend their six-game winning streak away at Sunderland next Saturday.
