Queen’s Park and Buck’s Bar Seeking the Next Glass Act – Design a Milkshake
BUCK’S BAR Southside and Queen’s Park FC have come up with another competition that will create a stir among our local schools – and a SHAKE!
The rock’n’roll chicken restaurant just around the corner from The city Stadium, in Cathcart Road, is famous for hot sauces, massive portions, milkshakes and music.
And their support of the Spiders, of course.
Here at Queen’s Park we’re proud to have Buck’s Bar on board as club partners and sponsors of our Player of the Month award.
Now, we’ve teamed up again for a delicious dairy drink competition – to design one of the restaurant’s legendary milkshakes.
with ‘Corrie’s Cozy Campfire’ – a creamy concoction mixed with pecan, chocolate and maple syrup that took a space on the menu at 1021 Cathcart Road.
Now it’s your turn and – in World Cup year – we are looking for a football theme to create a new recipe for the restaurant that’s just around the corner from the new Scott McTominay mural too.
Spiders fans, school pupils and milkshake maestros can all enter using the downloadable form here – but remember there are bonus points available for the name, flavours and theme.
Head coach Sean Crighton joined in the fun to launch the competition with local pupils from St Fillan’s Primary and said: “When I took over as head coach last summer, one of my other jobs away from signing players was helping choose the shortlist of winners of the Buck’s Bar milkshake competition with Jim Duffy!
“We were really impressed by the standard and ingenuity of the flavours, drawings and designs.
“The coaches and I have enjoyed meals at Buck’s Bar southside too, the staff and food there is fantastic and I look forward to seeing the next milkshake creation on their menu soon.”
Queen’s Park head of commercial Kieran Koszary added: “This is a commercial highlight of our calendar at Queen’s Park – and it’s not difficult to find willing volunteers to judge the taste test!
“We look forward to engaging with the young people in our community as well as supporting a fantastic local restaurant which continues to go from strength to strength in Buck’s tenth year in Glasgow.”
Naturally, our panel – including Queen’s Park players, staff and representatives from Buck’s Bar – will take a STRAW poll of opinion to decide who is flavour of the season and crowned the winner.
They will receive a Queen’s Park goodie bag and visit Buck’s to create their drink which will also appear on the iconic restaurant menu. Not only that, their immediate family will be treated to a meal out complete with new-look shake on the side, and the winning pupil’s class teacher will also receive a meal voucher for the rock ‘n’ roll chicken restaurant.
All entries should include a milkshake name and ingredients, as well as the pupil’s name, age, school and class teacher.
As well as Buck’s Bar at 1021 Cathcart Road the eatery also has restaurants at West Regent Street and Trongate in Glasgow plus Grindlay Street and Hanover Street in Edinburgh. Another opened last year in St Andrew’s.
Entry via email to tickets@queensparkfc.co.uk or handed in to Queen’s Park’s offices, JB McAlpine Pavilion, The city Stadium, Letherby Drive, Mount Florida, G42 9BA.
To download an entry form, click HERE – but you’ll need to get a MOO-ve on.
Closing date for the udderly brilliant competition will be Friday, 10th April at 5pm.
