AHEAD OF THE GAME: Tamworth (H)

Woking vs Tamworth

Enterprise National League

Saturday 7th March

15:00 Kick-Off

The Cards return to home turf this weekend, taking on Tamworth FC, as they look to build on a midweek result which saw them share points with Boston United.

In that fixture, Sanderson placed his side ahead on two occasions, but the Pilgrims were twice able to level at the Jakemans Community Stadium. Nevertheless, it was a well-earned point for the Cards against an in-form Boston side.

With attention turning to Saturday’s clash, Woking have the opportunity to claim the league double over the Lambs. Sanderson’s 33rd-minute goal was the difference in a 1-0 victory at the Lamb Ground back in November, a result which, at the time, extended the Cards’ unbeaten run to six games.

The last time Tamworth took to the Laithwaite Community Stadium, the Lambs equalised two minutes from time to see the points shared in Surrey, an end the Cards will strive to avoid as they search for their first victory under interim manager Craig Ross.

Opposition Watch

After going unbeaten in the league in February, the Lambs lost out in their first March matchup, with a 2-0 loss on the road to Yeovil Town.

This adds to a recent away form which has them without a league victory in seven fixtures, meaning they are yet to win a league tie away from home this year, their last being a 2-1 win at Boreham Wood on November 15th.

Currently in 10th place, Tamworth find themselves six points ahead of Woking, with the Cards having played three fewer games, collecting a total of 45 points from 35 fixtures.

Alongside their league campaign, they also made it to the final four of the National League Cup, where they recently lost out on a place in the final after a 3-1 defeat to West Ham under-21s.

Still in cup action, however, the Lambs are set to face Stourbridge FC in the quarter-finals of the Birmingham Senior Cup later this month, with Andy Peak’s side still in strong contention for silverware this season as they try to retain their title.

One to Watch

In goal-scoring form of late, Oliver Lynch will certainly be looking to add to his tally at the Laithwaite Community Stadium.

Indeed, last month, he boasted an 84th-minute leveller against Morecambe, just two minutes into his substitute appearance, on February 10th. To net in consecutive games, he also scored the opener against Aldershot on February 14th, as well as more recently netting twice against play-off hopefuls Boreham Wood on February 28th.

These, paired with another eight across all competitions for the forward, illustrate the impact of the Luton Town loanee, an impact he will strive to continue on Saturday afternoon.
