Tottenham fans are all telling Igor Tudor the same thing about Mathys Tel

0 0

Tottenham fans are now calling for Mathys Tel to be given more minutes after the Fulham defeat, following his bright cameo off the bench.

Tottenham Hotspur’s winless run in 2026 continued on Sunday afternoon after they fell to a 2-1 defeat against London rivals Fulham.

The Cottagers completed the double over Spurs this season, recording consecutive 2-1 wins at home and away.

Tottenham went two goals down but showed some fight after Igor Tudor rang the changes, bringing on the likes of Mathys Tel and Richarlison.

The Brazilian scored Spurs’ only goal of the day following sharp wing play from Tel, who combined well with Archie Gray, who provided the assist.

Tottenham fans question Mathys Tel game time after Fulham defeat

Tel’s bright cameo against Fulham has now led many Tottenham fans to take to social media saying the same thing.

Several are in disbelief as to how the Frenchman has not had more game time in a Tottenham squad short of players due to injuries.

One supporter questioned his lack of minutes and the impact on his development, writing: “It is absolutely laughable that Mathys Tel has not had a run in this team. The poor bloke has had his career smashed to bits under Frank. Could be in the France World Cup squad in another life. The talent is there.”

Another Tottenham fan pointed to his mentality and willingness to take responsibility, posting: “Mathys Tel is nowhere near a finished article, he is still raw. But his mentality to try things, be confident, not shy away from responsibility – that stuff shifts momentum, one small run at his full-back etc. It changes the mood and that spreads.”

One other called for him to start every game, stating: “The players look so lost. It will be an absolute miracle if we stay in this division. One thing I do know is Mathys Tel and Richarlison are up for the fight. Should start every game. The rest… pfft.”

Another described him as a bright spark, adding: “Mathys Tel a bright spark in a dark, dark season. How he has not got more consistent football is beyond me. Quality from Gray as well. Absolutely dreadful but we are in it.”

Meanwhile, one fan looked ahead to the next fixture and wrote: “Mathys Tel must start vs Crystal Palace. Not only is his attitude first class, but he is one of the only #thfc players showing an ability to actually produce a moment.”

Another took aim at previous selection decisions, posting: “But remember guys, I was told by some people that the managers know more than us, and Mathys Tel has done nothing worthy of deserving a start!”

Calls for him to start more games kept coming, with one writing: “Mathys Tel has to start every game going forward.”

Another argued his impact has outweighed others despite limited minutes: “Mathys Tel has played so few minutes this season, but I would argue he has had more impactful performances than any attacker and midfielder in this entire squad bar Richarlison.”

A final Tottenham supporter added: “Mathys Tel has been performing every time he has come on for the majority of the season now but never gets a game. Genuinely, Richarlison might have to stay for next season, the guy scores or does something every time he plays, he must have one of the best goals to minute ratios in the PL.”

Spurs must consider Tel role before Crystal Palace clash

Tudor is still getting familiar with his side and, since taking charge, we have seen him attempt to adapt his system to the personnel available.

Last time out against Fulham, the Croatian lined up in a 4-1-3-2 system after the disastrous performance against Arsenal two weeks earlier.

However, it remains clear that Spurs lack natural width when playing with two up front; including Tel could solve that problem, and it is something Tudor should at least consider before the clash against Crystal Palace.
