'Special' star wins Man United's Player and Goal of the Month, matches Fernandes' feat

0 3

Striker Benjamin Sesko has been named Manchester United’s February Player of the Month, beating goalkeeper Senne Lammens and Harry Maguire to the award.

Described as a ‘special‘ player by director Christopher Vivell, Sesko pulled 61 percent of the votes, compared to 33 percent for Lammens and six percent for Maguire.

The 22-year-old is the first centre-forward to claim the award since Rasmus Hojlund in February 2024.

Sesko enjoyed a brilliant month for United, scoring three crucial goals as a substitute, helping the Red Devils in their push for Champions League qualification.

The Slovenia international scored the winning goal in the 3-2 victory over Fulham, bagged the decisive strike against Everton, and netted the equaliser at West Ham United.

Sesko’s goal against West Ham was also named United’s Goal of the Month, having won 34 percent of the votes.

His goals against Everton (30 percent) and Fulham (17 percent)—the former described as “fantastic” by pundit Ian Wright—finished second and third in the votes respectively.

Sesko is now the first player to win United’s Player and Goal of the Month in the same month, since Bruno Fernandes in February 2025.

Sesko will hope to continue his blistering form in March, starting with Sunday afternoon’s Premier League clash against Crystal Palace at Old Trafford.

Having yet to start a game under manager Michael Carrick, there is now a growing expectation that he will be named in the starting line-up against the Eagles.

Amad Diallo’s dip in form has opened the door for the former RB Leipzig man to stake a claim in the starting XI.

Sesko has made 24 appearances across all competitions, scoring eight goals and providing one assist.
