Micky Van de Ven reveals dressing room reaction after Tottenham sack 'top' Thomas Frank

0 1

Micky van de Ven has broken his silence on Thomas Frank’s departure from Tottenham Hotspur, offering an honest assessment of how the dressing room took the news.

Thomas Frank’s sacking marked the first managerial change since Daniel Levy’s departure and the 16th dismissal in the last 25 years.

Results were far from ideal, with Frank managing just two wins in his last 17 outings, while Tottenham hovered dangerously close to the relegation zone in 16th place.

Change was needed, with supporters losing patience with the football on display, and Frank was dismissed with Igor Tudor appointed as interim manager.

For several players, watching a manager leave is not an entirely new experience, with Ange Postecoglou also sacked following a disappointing domestic campaign last season.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Micky van de Ven admitted it was difficult to see Frank go after working closely with him. He said: “It is always tough when a manager goes away.

“You have worked with him intensively the last, what was it, six months I think roughly. So yes, it is always tough when someone leaves and you are never happy to hear when someone needs to leave where you have been working with every day.”

Van de Ven also addressed his personal relationship with Frank, explaining how they communicated regularly both on and off the pitch.

He said: “It was good. I communicated a lot with Thomas, on and off the pitch, in both ways. So yes, I had a good connection with him and I spoke a lot with him about things on the pitch.”

Spurs dressing room unity under Thomas Frank

During the Dane’s tenure, there were claims that parts of the Tottenham dressing room were not best pleased with Frank, and now van de Ven has shed more light on that.

When asked whether there was a strong sense of togetherness during the former Brentford manager’s tenure, Van de Ven was clear in his praise of Frank.

He added: “Yes, for sure. What you say, his personality is top, like how kind he is to every person here in the building and every person in the dressing room, and how he communicates with everyone in the group, yes exactly what you say, his personality is top.”
