Bay go fourth after win over Penybont

0 0

COLWYN BAY moved up to fourth place in the table and within three points of third-place with an excellent 3-1 home victory over Penybont in the rain at the Blue Turtle Arena.

Goals from George Hughes, Ryan Astles and Jordan Davies secured the points, while Penybont finished the game with 10 men after having defender Nathan Williams red carded.

The Seagulls dominated much of the first half and Louis Robles hit the bar with a header from a good ball by Ethan Roberts and Penybont keeper Luke Armstrong made a couple of good saves before George Hughes opened the scoring direct from an inswinging corner on 34 minutes.

Alex Moore volleyed a chance over the bar and Ryan Astles put a header from a corner over the bar before having a goal ruled out for a harsh looking offside decision from a free kick.

Penybont equalised against the run of play eight minutes into the second half through substitute Noah Daley, but they were level for only two minutes before Ryan Astles put the Bay back in front from another George Hughes corner.

After a period of end to end play Penybont’s Nathan Williams received a straight red card for bringing down Louis Robles as he was breaking clear from the half-way line and substitute Jordan Davies wrapped up the points with Colwyn Bay’s third goal from a goalmouth scramble on 86 minutes.

COLWYN BAY: Alex Brown, Nathan Peake (c), Sol Forde, Louis Robles, Ethan Roberts (Sam Hart 70), Alex Moore, Aaron Williams (Jordan Davies 70), Aron Williams (Issa Kargbo 90), Ryan Astles, Aeron Edwards (Jamie Cumming 62), George Hughes. Unused subs: Luke Murphy (G), Lewis Sirrell.
