Elding Off The Mark For The Hibees

0 2

Hibernian striker Owen Elding was delighted with his overall contribution after he helped the Hibees earn a vital three points with a routine 2-0 victory over St Mirren.

Elding marked his first Hibs start with a goal after he headed in the opener just before half-time with an excellent glancing header.

The 19-year-old was quickest to react in the box, guiding Dan Barlaser's cross into the far corner to open his account for the Hibees.

"I am buzzing after that," Elding told Hibs TV.

"It’s a good win, especially considering the massive disappointment during the week. To bounce back with a 2-0 win and a clean sheet, it means we can start looking up now.

"I’ve only just been in the door, but you can see the character in the group - willing to come out, put on a performance and get the three points today.

The teenager led the line with Dane Scarlett and more than held his own against a physical St Mirren back line, admitting after the match that he relished the challenge.

After getting off the mark, Elding is eager to kick on between now and the end of the season.

"I don’t mind the physical side of the game that much. I’m just happy to score goals and get three points.

"All I can do when I play is to try and score. I’ve done that today, we've got a good week of training now and hopefully I can be in the team again next week.

"I’m really looking forward to the game next week. It makes it even more special now, winning this one and getting the three points. Hopefully, we can go there and get a result."
