Eye-watering sum Tottenham paid to hire, employee, and sack Thomas Frank

0 5

The failed Thomas Frank experiment has ended up being incredibly costly for Tottenham Hotspur, both on and off the pitch.

There was plenty of optimism around Spurs when Frank arrived in the summer, with Dane taking over a club where spirits were high after their Europa League win.

However, the 52-year-old’s era was filled with frustration and anger from the fan base, with the former Brentford boss leaving what appears to be a broken club.

The Tottenham hierarchy persisted with Frank for much longer than many supporters wanted, and in the end, he left with a massive payout.

Tottenham spent over £23m on the failed Thomas Frank experiment

The Daily Mail have now revealed that Frank will be paid one year’s salary as compensation for his dismissal just eight months into his three-year contract.

That means that Frank will pocket an £8m settlement on his way out of the North London club.

Additionally, it is revealed that the Spurs paid £10m to prise him away from Brentford last summer and paid him a salary of £650,000 a month during his stay at the club.

That brings Tottenham’s total expenditure on Frank over the course of his tenure to more than £23m.

Spurs have turned to an experienced manager to get them out of trouble

Tottenham have confirmed that Igor Tudor will take charge of the first-team until the end of the season.

The Croat has plenty of experience as a firefighter at clubs for relatively short periods, and he will be expected to do the same in North London.

The Spurs hierarchy will hope that the 47-year-old’s arrival can produce a bounce in the team’s form, which proves enough to steer the club to safety.
