Radio Host Predicts Patriots Will Win 5 Games Next Season
The New England Patriots took a seismic leap when going from 4-12 to AFC champions this season. A radio host boldly predicted them to fall back to square one in 2026.
New England’s resplendent campaign ended with an ugly Super Bowl LX loss to the Seattle Seahawks. Skeptics didn’t hesitate to take a victory lap after Mike Vrabel’s squad finally stumbled.
WFAN radio host Craig Carton claimed Monday that everyone should have seen New England’s 29-13 loss coming. He expects them to regress dramatically from a 13-win season.
“I’m telling you, as soon as they run into a good football team, they’re gonna be embarrassed. And that’s exactly what happened,” Carton said. “This was candy from a baby … Look, I feel bad for you guys. Five wins next year.”
Carton gave one of the wildest overreactionary hot takes to Drake Maye’s sloppy Super Bowl. He claimed the MVP runner-up, who led the NFL in EPA by a substantial margin and faced four top-six defenses in the playoffs, showed his true colors during Sunday’s loss.
“Drake Maye was never a good quarterback,” Carton declared with a straight face. “Drake Maye benefitted off playing against the worst teams in football. Drake Maye, as you said, has had a terrible, terrible postseason. All three games prior to (the Super Bowl) were not great, and he got exposed.”
If Carton were in charge, the Patriots would still be seeking their future signal-caller.
“Drake Maye played like a 23-year-old kid amongst men,” Carton said. “Not well. And here’s the reality. If you’re a Patriot fan, you have to understand, you do not have a franchise quarterback.”
