Summary: U23s 5-1 Whitstable U23s

The Stones made the perfect start when Tristan Lock struck early to put the visitors ahead. It was just the response the side were looking for, and they continued to create opportunities as they looked to build on their advantage.

However, Whitstable grew into the contest as the half progressed and began to apply pressure of their own. The hosts found a leveller before the break, and at 1-1 at half time Maidstone were perhaps fortunate not to be behind.

The second half told a very different story.

United emerged with renewed intensity, pressing high and forcing turnovers in dangerous areas. Their relentless approach quickly shifted the momentum, with sustained possession and a spell of excellent football pinning Whitstable back inside their own half.

The pressure eventually told. A series of well worked moves carved open the opposition defence, and Maidstone added four further goals to take the game away from the hosts.

Delvane Kattah was the standout performer, grabbing a brace as part of a ruthless attacking display that reflected the standards the group have been striving to return to. The back line also produced another assured performance, building on recent improvements and unfortunate not to come away with a clean sheet.

It was a dominant and mature second half display from the young Stones – one that secured a deserved three points and reinforced their position at the summit.
