‘Tottenham will be there’ – Fabrizio Romano says Spurs will battle for £87m star

0 1

Fabrizio Romano has named Tottenham Hotspur as one of four contenders to land one of the most exciting wingers across Europe.

After a quiet January window, where Spurs only had a net spend of £12m, the expectation from Tottenham fans is that the Lilywhites will splash the cash in the summer.

It has been reported that Spurs resisted panic buying in January precisely because they are eyeing an ambitious summer window, but the club’s hierarchy will have to walk the talk before the supporters are convinced.

Tottenham were reportedly put off from signing a Bundesliga winger in January due to his huge price tag, and it has now been suggested that the Lilywhites could try again for him in the summer.

Tottenham are in a four-horse race for Yan Diomande

Over recent days, some journalists have suggested that Spurs may be priced out of a move for Yan Diomande, who may cost upwards of £80m in the summer.

However, Fabrizio Romano is confident that Tottenham Hotspur will be at the table for the RB Leipzig man in the summer, but he explained that they would have to battle some of the biggest clubs across Europe for the 19-year-old.

Romano said on his YouTube channel: “I think it’s going to be an interesting summer for Yan Diomande. Because on Yan Diomande, the attention is really there.

“I will tell you more very soon, but I think Bayern will be there, Manchester United will be there, Tottenham will be there, and Paris Saint-Germain could be there as well. So several clubs are monitoring the player.”

Spurs offered Diomande hope by Fabrizio Romano

Over the last few weeks, a number of sources have suggested that Liverpool are extremely keen on landing Diomande, who is seen as a long-term option by decision-makers at Anfield.

However, Romano has now suggested that the race for the Ivory Coast international is still at a nascent stage and no negotiations have been held so far.

The Italian journalist added about the Bundesliga star’s future: “At the moment, we are at the scouting level. So we are not at the bids, negotiations or talks. Just some conversations, following the player, monitoring the player.

“So it’s still early. But there is going to be plenty of movement around Diomande, because for sure, there is a lot of attention on the player. So, it’s going to be one to watch for sure in this summer window.”
