NFL Analyst Claims Patriots ‘Aren’t That Good’ After Super Bowl Loss

Not everyone celebrated how far the New England Patriots have come following Sunday’s Super Bowl LX loss.

The Patriots fell short of a storybook ending to their 2025 season, losing 29-13 to the Seattle Seahawks. After the game, CBS Sports analyst Pete Prisco praised head coach Mike Vrabel for steering this team to an AFC title.

“This team is a testament to the coach,” Prisco said on a confetti-filled field. “Because they aren’t that good.”

Prisco said he identified a discrepancy in talent when evaluating the rosters before the Super Bowl. He feels the Patriots lack marquee players beyond Drake Maye, who struggled during the playoffs with shaky protection from his offensive line.

“Where are the stars on this team?” Prisco asked. “Drake Maye is moving to being a star, no question about it. He hasn’t played like a star in the postseason. He was bad in the postseason.”

While the defense dominated throughout the AFC bracket, Prisco questioned the pass rush.

“Where are the good edge rushers? They don’t have anybody,” he claimed. “They have great secondary players — I do think they have that. But the bottom line is, they need to get edge guys who can rush the passer.”

On the offensive side, Prisco thinks Maye needs a new top target for the Patriots to remain a title contender. Stefon Diggs settled for 37 yards on three catches in a quiet Super Bowl showing.

“They need to get some speed,” Prisco added. “Where was Diggs until the end of the game? He was a no-show. He’s your number one wide receiver? That can’t happen.”

Although they just completed a resounding transformation from 4-13 to AFC champions, Prisco warned that the Patriots have some issues to address this offseason.

“Do they have problems going forward? No question about it.”
