Star Safety Explains Why Seahawks Defense Was So Confident Playing Patriots At Super Bowl LX

The Seattle Seahawks knew they would be able to dominate the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LX.

Seattle entered the game as the betting favorite, and the Seahawks defense had full confidence they would be able to limit the Patriots’ offense. The Seahawks did just that as New England was held scoreless through three quarters, which didn’t surprise safety Nick Emmanwori.

“As humble as I can say this, watching film, I was thinking, ‘We have too much for them,’” Emmanwori said postgame on Sunday, via The Athletic. “‘We’re going to overwhelm them. We have too much.’

“A lot of respect to them because we still had to face them, and they had a great team, great scheme. But I knew we had too much. We just have too much as a defense.”

Although the Patriots did have success in the fourth quarter, the game was out of reach by then.

A key reason for the Seahawks success was due to how relaxed they were and how close they are as a unit, according to Emmanwori.

“This team is one of one as far as the players and the relationships,” Emmanwori said. “I promise you. I wish they would record all the behind-the-scenes (stuff), because they would have really seen how tight this was. But we know how tight this was, so this team is one of one. It’ll be hard to recreate this.”

Seattle ended up defeating the Patriots 29-13 on Sunday to win Super Bowl LX.
