I hear you, I just fundamentally disagree. It’s just winning, and we have done that plenty of times this season.
Winning ugly is back to basics, clear the ball, take your shape and defend, stifle the opposition, rinse repeat and make sure you take your chances in a fairly even game. Coventry was kind of winning ugly but had moments of great skill.
Today we dominated, played some good stuff for large parts of the game, had 21 shots, 6 on target, 10 corners, had 73% of the possession, scored 2, hit the bar, had our own player clear one off our shots off the line and had a legitimate goal chalked off for offside.
If that’s your standard of ugly then I would love to know what your tactic at ten to two in the morning used to be.
