8/100: Man Utd are the best PL club in one attacking attribute, better than Arsenal
Manchester United have been in fascinating form under interim manager Michael Carrick and recently picked up a third-straight Premier League win.
The Red Devils find themselves fourth in the standings after those results. They can further boost their Champions League prospects with a victory on Saturday.
United face their nemesis Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford. The Red Devils are winless in the last eight meetings (3D, 5L) and can end the streak this weekend.
Ahead of the game, The Athletic have published an interesting statistic on set pieces.
United have scored plenty of goals from set plays in the current campaign. They have netted 14 goals from such situations in the league, and only Arsenal have managed more (17).
However, the Red Devils have been the strongest and more effective side. As per The Athletic, they average eight goals per 100 set pieces, notably higher than the Gunners (7.3).
United grabbed a dramatic equaliser against Spurs at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium earlier this season. Matthijs de Ligt’s towering header from a corner ensured that the Red Devils shared the spoils.
De Ligt is not available on Saturday due to a nagging back problem, but United have Casemiro and Harry Maguire, who have proved genuine goalscoring threats from crosses into the box this term.
United would obviously prefer an easy outing with open play goals, but their improved goalscoring from corners and free-kicks could prove useful in securing a long-awaited victory over Tottenham.
Carrick could make one change to the starting XI for the game. We are backing Benjamin Sesko to get the nod upfront with Amad Diallo dropping out. Bryan Mbeumo should move to the right wing.
