Mack Hollins Comments On Future; Why Patriots Should Bring Him Back

The New England Patriots signed Mack Hollins in the offseason, and it has turned out to be one of the best decisions the team made in free agency.

Hollins has emerged as a leader for the Patriots and had a great year on the field as well. Despite missing time, he finished fourth on the team in receiving yards and third in receptions. Hollins has played on five different teams in the last five seasons. His last four stops have been one-year stops.

His contract with the Patriots is for two years, and he spoke on whether he wants to be back next season, ending the trend of one-year stops.

“Yeah. I mean, I’d love to stay in one place for my whole career. That’s the ideal,” Hollins said, per The Boston Herald’s Doug Kyed on Wednesday. “And I think sometimes when I say, ‘oh, value yourself.’ You have to add value. If I’m not adding value, then by no means should any team value me. So I think that’s something that I have to continue to do too. As long as I want to stay here, then I got to continue to add value to this team and to this organization.”

Hollins has been a key player for the Patriots, and there is no reason the team should not want him back. He has emerged as a fan favorite and seems to have the respect of his teammates in the locker room.

On the field, the Patriots do not have another player of his size. He plays a key role in the rushing attack as a blocker as well.

During this run, despite being injured for the first two playoff games, he has been a vocal presence for the Patriots. His contract is not expensive, and it will not cost the Patriots much to keep him around.

His cap hit next season is $5.25. million, which is cheap given the state of the wide receiver market. There is no real reason to cut him this offseason.
