Carrick to make 1 big change: Predicted Man Utd XI vs Fulham after injury confirmed for £25m star
Manchester United entertain Fulham in today’s Premier League game at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils have picked up back-to-back wins over Manchester City and Arsenal and have the opportunity to make it three victories in a row for the first time since October.
United can jump back to fourth in the table with a victory over Marco Silva’s side.
Ahead of today’s game, interim manager Michael Carrick will be forced into a solitary change with Patrick Dorgu ruled out for several weeks with a hamstring injury.
Formation: 4-2-3-1
Predicted Line-up:
Senne Lammens has been an undisputed starter in goal for the Red Devils since his debut against Sunderland in October. He will be eyeing his fourth clean sheet of the campaign.
There is no need for Carrick to change his backline today. Noussair Mazraoui is back in the mix after his Africa Cup of Nations duty, but he was only a late substitute against the Gunners.
Diogo Dalot has earned plenty of praise from the manager and could continue at right-back. Harry Maguire and Lisandro Martinez are assured to start in central defence with Luke Shaw at left-back.
In midfield, Casemiro and Kobbie Mainoo have excelled as a pairing since Carrick took charge. The duo are expected to keep their places ahead of Manuel Ugarte and Mason Mount this afternoon.
Amad Diallo has not made a goal contribution on his return from Ivory Coast duty, but he was unlucky not to score in the Manchester derby, hitting the woodwork from a brilliant counter-attack.
The winger had a quieter game against Arsenal, but should still keep his place. He is likely to continue on the right wing. Bruno Fernandes is obviously an undisputed starter in the number 10 role.
The club captain had a tough outing at the Emirates Stadium last weekend, but still grabbed an assist. He is leading the assists tally in the league with 10 this campaign, three ahead of Rayan Cherki.
The Portuguese will be keen to make amends against Fulham, having missed a penalty in a 1-1 draw at Craven Cottage earlier this season.
Bryan Mbeumo has been United’s standout goalscorer in the league with eight. He has scored in back-to-back games playing as a striker.
The Cameroonian star is poised to start in the same position against the Cottagers.
The only enforced change will come on the left wing with Dorgu sidelined. The £25 million signing will be out for the next couple of months.
In his absence, it appears a no-brainer decision to field Matheus Cunha in the position.
The Brazil international provided an assist coming off the bench in the Manchester derby. He went on to score a stunning late winner at Arsenal.
Cunha should be assured a starting role against Fulham. He has fared well against them with three goals and an assist from five appearances.
