Deadline day frenzy: Four late deals Man United could seal before transfer window slams shut

0 12

Manchester United are bracing themselves for a frantic transfer deadline day as the winter window reaches its dramatic conclusion.

With the window slamming shut tomorrow, United are still expected to finalise several late moves.

Here we break down the deals the Red Devils could rush through in the final hours as INEOS looks to fine-tune the squad.

Sekou Kone

Kone is a highly-rated midfielder signed from the Malian side Guidars FC in the summer of 2024.

He was included in senior matchday squads under former manager Ruben Amorim last season.

The 19-year-old was tipped for a permanent promotion to the first team this season, but cruelly saw his momentum halted by an unfortunate head injury.

He is expected to join INEOS-owned FC Lausanne-Sport on loan for the remainder of the season after training with them this month.

Diego Leon

Leon joined United from Cerro Porteno for an initial fee of £3.2 million.

The exciting left-back has been carefully integrated through the under-21s as he adapts to the physical and tactical demands of English football.

However, his pathway to the senior squad is currently blocked by the presence of Luke Shaw, Patrick Dorgu, Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui.

As a result, Leon is now being lined up for a loan move to the French side OGC Nice, another club under the INEOS umbrella.

The temporary switch would give him valuable senior experience while keeping him firmly within the INEOS development structure.

Ethan Wheatley

The England youth international spent the first half of the season out on loan at Northampton Town, where he scored three goals and provided one assist.

The spell proved to be a valuable learning curve, with the young striker gaining regular senior minutes in League One.

Wheatley is now expected to complete another loan move, this time to Bradford City, who are currently pushing hard for promotion.

The move would place him in a high-pressure environment where results matter, which would be ideal for his continued development.

Having already made four first team appearances for United, expectations will be high for Wheatley to make an immediate impact.

Gabriele Biancheri

Biancheri is one of the highly-rated forwards at the United academy.

While the emergence of Chido Obi has often stolen the headlines, Biancheri has quietly delivered nine goal contributions in just 11 Premier League 2 matches this season.

His performances suggest he may already be too good for academy-level football.

A loan move is now seen as the logical next step to test him in the senior game.

Cardiff City are reportedly pushing hard to secure his signature, and it would be a surprise if United blocked a move that could accelerate his development.
