Bay cup hopes ended by clinical Cofies

0 2

THE Seagulls hopes of competing in an all North Wales semi-final in the JD Welsh Cup were ended with a 4-1 defeat against Caernarfon Town in front of a 1,224 crowd at Llandudno’s Go Goodwin Stadium.

The scoreline was harsh on the Bay, but in the end Caernarfon were far more clinical with their finishing and that was the difference.

In the first half a great run by Ethan Roberts opened up a great chance, but Jordan Davies couldn’t get a final touch as the ball was played across the face of goal, and then Jordon fired a big chance into the side-netting after another run and cross by Ethan Robert

Caernarfon had a couple of strong penalty shouts tirned down, but from their first real opening, Iwan Lewis scored from Morgan Owen’s pass to put the home side in front at half-time.

They added a second goal straight from the restart with a well-struck volley from Sion Bradley and although Louis Robles pulled a goal back following a long throw from Matty Hill, the Bay missed chances to equalise as Robles hit the bar and Nathan Peate and Jordan Davies were off target with other opportunities.

Caernarfon made it 3-1 with a deflected free kick from Dan Gosset on 81 minutes and after Aaron Williams had hit the bar with a lob over home keeper Connor Roberts, and George Hughes had fired a shot wide, Zak Clarke added Caernarfon’s fourth in added time after his first effort had been blocked by Alex Brown.

Caernarfon go into the semi-final draw with Bangor, Rhyl and Flint Town United who all won their ties.
