Bowie Joins Hellas Verona For Club Record Fee
We can confirm that Kieron Bowie has joined Italian Serie A side, Hellas Verona, on a permanent transfer for a Club record fee.
The terms of the 23-year-old’s transfer will remain undisclosed, however, we can confirm the fee substantially exceeds the previous record transfer fee of £4.4m set by the sale of Scott Brown in 2007.
The transfer also includes a sell-on clause and achievable add-ons which could see the total value of the deal rise during Bowie’s time in Italy.
Bowie joined the Club in Summer 2024 and went on to make 52 appearances for the Hibees – scoring 15 goals in all competitions.
The forward scored the winner in the most recent Edinburgh Derby at Easter Road and will be fondly remembered for his sensational volley against FK Partizan in the UEFA Conference League qualifiers.
During his time at the Club, Kieron also earned his first senior caps for Scotland – making his debut in June 2025 before helping Steve Clarke’s side gain automatic qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Upon Bowie’s departure, Hibernian FC Head Coach, David Gray commented: “Firstly, I would like to thank Kieron for the way he has conducted himself over the last 18 months. He has been a pleasure to coach and he has been fantastic to work with both on and off the pitch.
“This is a life-changing move for him and his family. He has a bright career ahead of him and we wish him every success in Italy and in the future moving forward.”
Hibernian FC Sporting Director, Malky Mackay added: “I would like to wish Kieron all the best with his move. It has been a joy to watch him develop during his time at Hibs and see him progress through the international youth squads before making his first senior Scotland cap.
“There has always been speculation over Kieron, with several clubs submitting bids over the course of the transfer window. We have worked hard to secure a deal that reflects his true value and one that is in the best interests of Hibernian Football Club and all parties involved.
“Kieron has got a great personality and is surprisingly mature for his age, which will stand him in good stead in relocating to Italy and playing in Serie A. I wish him all the luck in the world and he leaves Easter Road with the very best wishes from everyone at the Club.”
Upon departing Hibernian FC, Kieron Bowie said: "I would like to thank all my teammates, coaches and staff at Hibernian FC for their support during my time at the Club.
"I loved playing for and representing Hibs and enjoyed some amazing memories with a fantastic group of people, and I hope to be back to visit Easter Road in the future.
"I will always look back fondly on my time with the Club and wish everyone every success moving forward."
