La Liga-winning manager would be open to replacing Thomas Frank at Tottenham

0 5

A big-name manager is ready to replace Thomas Frank at Tottenham Hotspur, but a change may not be imminent.

The pressure continues to pile on Thomas Frank, who was booed along with his players following Tottenham’s 2-2 draw at Turf Moor.

Frank has continued to defend Spurs’ performances, which has not gone down well with parts of the club’s fan base.

Reports from the likes of Fabrizio Romano indicate that the Tottenham head coach’s position is once again under scrutiny, with a decision soon expected from the North London club’s hierarchy.

Xavi Hernandez would be open to becoming Tottenham’s head coach

It has been reported in the Spanish press that Spurs have already reached out to Xavi Hernandez, who is allegedly open to taking a job in the Premier League.

Journalist Pete O’Rourke has now said that Xavi would be open to either the Spurs or the Man United job, but suggested that the Spaniard may not be either club’s number one choice.

When asked about the former Barcelona boss taking over at either club, O’Rourke told Football Insider: “Yeah, look, he would be an interesting option for both Manchester United and Tottenham, obviously, he has got a glittering CV from his time at Barcelona.

“He obviously had a spell in charge at Barcelona, where he did win the league, but he’s been out of work since the summer of 2024. I’m sure Xavi himself would be interested in the chance to maybe move to the Premier League and either join Manchester United or Tottenham.

“I’m not sure he’s probably so high up the list of both clubs. Obviously we know United are looking for a permanent manager in the summer, with Michael Carrick in interim charge at the moment. Thomas Frank, for now, is still in charge at Tottenham, and no decision has been made on what they’re going to do long-term.”

Spurs could opt for an interim head coach

It has been reported by The Independent that Tottenham have had discussions internally regarding a move for Xabi Alonso, but the former Real Madrid man wants to wait until the summer before taking up his next job.

Meanwhile, Spurs are also eyeing the likes of Mauricio Pochettino, Andoni Iraola and Oliver Glasner, but none of them may be available until the end of the season.

It has thus been suggested by some sources that the Lilywhites could appoint John Heitinga as the interim head coach until the summer should they part ways with Frank.
