Tottenham transfer round-up: Andy Robertson latest, £85m bid for Real Madrid ace, Guglielmo Vicario plan
The clock is ticking on the January transfer window and Tottenham had better get a move on if they want to complete any of the deals we’ve seen mentioned in the last 24 hours.
As things stand, Spurs are still stuck on two signings this month. Conor Gallagher and Souza are the only new players through the door.
We thought Andy Robertson would join the list of confirmed January deals for Spurs, but there have been some complications there — more on that shortly.
Still, it doesn’t sound like Tottenham have all their eggs in one basket, with a whole host of new names linked with a move to North London. Here’s what’s going on with the latest Tottenham transfer news.
Tottenham transfer round-up: Is Andy Robertson signing?
Just days ago, it sounded as though Tottenham were close to striking a deal for Andy Robertson, with reports claiming the player was happy to sign.
However, Liverpool pulled the plug on the Robertson deal on Sunday. It’s thought the Reds are not willing to part with the Scotsman given the impact it would have on their squad depth.
There is still a bit of hope, though. A complex chain of events could see Robertson join Spurs. It would mean Roma having to sign a new left-back to replace Kostas Tsimikas, with the Greek star heading back to Liverpool if his loan is cut short. It’s a long shot, but it could happen.
Spurs chase multiple midfielders
We know Spurs are keen to sign another midfielder this month. In fact, they may be about to break the bank in that regard. Reports from Spain suggest Tottenham have offered £85m for Aurelien Tchouameni.
It’s unclear whether Real Madrid would accept that offer or whether the player would agree to a move. Liverpool are also keen.
Speaking of Liverpool, it’s not looking good for Tottenham’s pursuit of Curtis Jones. Like Robertson, it’s not thought the Anfield outfit would be eager to part ways with one of their own.
Guglielmo Vicario could leave
Meanwhile, in the goalkeeper department, there’s a belief that Guglielmo Vicario could be on his way out of Spurs. Vicario is wanted by Inter Milan and is known to be on board with that idea. Spurs are now looking for a world-class replacement.
The likes of Bart Verbruggen, James Trafford and Marc Andre Ter Stegen have all been considered by the Lilywhites as they search for a new number one.
Interestingly, Inter Milan could be key to this development. They were linked with Emi Martinez but that’s been rebuffed, with Vicario their only target now.
Tottenham transfer round-up: Two strikers targeted, Radu Dragusin replacement, another Brentford link
We conclude our Tottenham transfer round-up with a brief update on other targets and one player who could be leaving the club.
First of all, new striker targets have emerged. Mohamed Kader Meite is wanted by Spurs and Man United, and the Rennes forward could cost £35m.
Meanwhile, Jorgen Strand Larsen may not be on Tottenham’s list anymore. A new report suggested he will stay in the Premier League but cited Leeds United, Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace as possible suitors.
At the same time, reports in Turkey claim Fenerbache could win the race for Omar Marmoush. That would be a blow to Spurs, who had been looking at signing the Man City ace.
Finally, Radu Dragusin is ready to leave Tottenham, but who will replace him? Spurs are looking at Alessandro Buongiorno, but will need former boss Antonio Conte to sanction a move away from Napoli. Tottenham are also keen on Nathan Collins, but Thomas Frank’s job security could be an issue there.
