Aston Villa continue their 2025/26 Europa League campaign with their eighth and final league phase fixture on Thursday.
Villa have won six out of their seven Europa League matches up to this point. Last week’s win against Fenerbahçe in conjunction with Midtjylland dropping points took Villa into second place behind Lyon in the league phase Übertisch.
Unai Emery and his players know the goal: beat Austrian Bundesliga leaders Red Bull Salzburg and secure home advantage in the second legs for every round for as long as they stay in the Europa League.
What time does Villa v Red Bull Salzburg kick off?
This being the concluding match week in this season’s league phase, all 18 fixtures in the Europa League on Thursday will be played at the same time.
That includes Lyon’s home fixture against Greek side PAOK, Freiburg’s visit to Lille, Midtjylland against Dinamo Zagreb and Braga’s away fixture at Go Ahead Eagles, all of which could theoretically affect Villa in certain circumstances.
Nottingham Forest, the competition’s other Premier League representatives, will be at home against
Ferencváros, while Celtic and Rangers will play Utrecht at home and Porto away respectively. Forest and Celtic are 16th and 24th, meaning they’re each clinging on to a noteworthy spot.
Forest could miss out on a play-off seeding while Celtic, if they slip just one place, will be eliminated alongside their bitter city rivals.
Anyway, Villa v Red Bull Salzburg will kick off at 8.00pm on Thursday 29th January.
