Tottenham expected to vie for Cristian Romero’s Argentina teammate on free transfer
Tottenham Hotspur have been named as one of the contenders to land an Argentine centre-back for absolutely nothing in the summer.
While Spurs may have more pressing concerns to address this transfer window, the club may be forced to strengthen the heart of their defence.
This is because Radu Dragusin is reportedly pushing to join AS Roma before the end of the transfer window, with the Romanian keen on leaving in search of regular game time.
Additionally, Ben Davies now faces several months on the sidelines after fracturing his ankle during Tottenham’s 2-1 loss to West Ham last week.
Tottenham may turn to Bournemouth defender Marcos Senesi
Journalist Ben Jacobs has now revealed that Bournemouth centre-back Marcos Senesi is one of the names on Spurs’ radar.
The defender’s contract at the Vitality Stadium runs out in the summer, and the journalist expects Spurs to be involved in a three-horse race for the 28-year-old’s services.
Jacobs said on The Last Word On Spurs: “From Tottenham’s perspective, there are a few defenders that they quite like. One is Marcos Senesi, and I would expect Tottenham to be in that conversation when he becomes a free agent during the summer.
“Of course, there’ll be other clubs. Juventus are one of them. Chelsea might go down that route if Jeremy Jacquet doesn’t arrive. So that’s a name to keep an eye on.”
Jacobs reveals Spurs are also eyeing Serie A defender
In the same podcast, Jacobs revealed that Como defender Jacobo Ramon is also being watched very closely by Tottenham.
However, he explained that, similar to the Nico Paz situation last summer, Real Madrid have a buy-back option for the Spanish centre-back.
Jacobs is not the first to report on Tottenham’s interest in the 21-year-old, with CaughtOffside stating two weeks ago that Spurs are one of five Premier League clubs vying for Ramon’s signature.
