Boyle On 'Very Good Afternoon' Against Hamilton
Hibs Women Captain Rachael Boyle described the Hibees’ 5-0 win over Hamilton Academical as a "very good afternoon’ as they earned their first league victory since November.
Boyle got herself on the scoresheet in the first half, alongside Ciara Grant and Eilidh Adams, as Hibs saw themselves go into the half-time interval with a three-goal lead.
Adams then doubled her tally for the afternoon in the second half, with Rosie Livingstone also scoring in the final twenty minutes of the match, rounding off a professional performance from Hibs.
“I think it was important for us to get the three points,” Boyle told HibsTV.
“That was our main focus going into the game. In the manner that we'd done that and the goals that we've scored, I think it was overall a very good afternoon for the team.”
Boyle scored the third goal of the afternoon, as she tapped home a rebound from a dangerous Hannah Jordan strike, which Boyle praised her teammate for.
“I think everybody wants to try and contribute and it was the right place, right time. I think it was an excellent shot from Hannah, and I've just been able to read it,” the skipper said.
“It was just the right place at the right time. I'm delighted to contribute, but it was an overall team performance.”
The victory over Hamilton was Joelle Murray’s first victory in charge of Hibernian Women, and Boyle described the victory as “important”.
“It was huge. Not only for that, but I think it gets the monkey off the back a little bit,” the versatile full-back revealed.
“The girls in the changing room are well aware that it's been a while since we've managed to get the three points.
“Today was important across the board, so yeah, a successful afternoon.”
Looking ahead, the Hibees welcome Glasgow City in the Sky Sports Cup Semi-Final at Meadowbank Stadium next Saturday.
Boyle said, “It's going to be massive. It's always a tough game against Glasgow City. Add into the mix that it's a semi-final of a major trophy.
“We want to make sure we can do everything we possibly can to get into the final, and the girls will be focused on that going into the week.”
