Report Maignan has verbal agreement with Milan for new contract to 2031
Mike Maignan has reportedly reached a verbal agreement with Milan directors for a new contract to June 2031, ending the fear of losing him as a free agent.
His current deal only runs to the end of this season, so there was the very real danger that the goalkeeper could walk away.
There is no shortage of clubs ready to snap the France international up, including Chelsea and Manchester United.
Maignan had opened door for Milan stay
However, it was known by multiple sources in recent weeks that negotiations found a breakthrough and were progressing rapidly towards a conclusion.
Transfer pundits Fabrizio Romano and Matteo Moretto maintain Maignan’s entourage have now reached a verbal agreement with Milan over the details for a new contract to June 2031.
There had been some doubts over whether it would be to June 2030 with an option to extend, or all the way to 2031.
His salary is believed to be worth €5m per season net plus a further €2m in bonuses, more or less the same wage as Rafael Leao.
The issues over the commission with his agent have also been resolved.
