Tottenham warned Micky Van de Ven will only sign new contract under one condition

0 3

Journalist Dean Jones has made an ominous prediction regarding the future of Micky Van de Ven at Tottenham.

The North London club are in absolute turmoil at the moment, with the relationship between the Spurs fans and the squad at an all-time low.

Thomas Frank’s days at Tottenham appear to be numbered unless he can follow up the win over Dortmund with a string of results, but there is a lack of clarity on who the Lilywhites would turn to as the Dane’s replacement.

Amidst this uncertainty, it has now been suggested that Spurs may be about to lose one of their best players.

Tottenham could lose Micky van de Ven unless they make a big statement

Journalist Dean Jones has now claimed that Micky van de Ven’s future is in doubt, with Liverpool and Real Madrid circling around the centre-back.

He suggested that unless Tottenham make an ambitious appointment to replace Frank, the 24-year-old may be on his way out at the end of the season.

Jones told TEAMtalk: “Spurs risk seeing their fears of losing Van de Ven intensify unless a new elite manager is in place by next summer. The Dutch defender has not yet agreed a new deal and is believed to have delayed the issue while Thomas Frank has been in charge.

“He has been one of the few players to show spells of consistency and decent form this season, but Tottenham face losing him if their season is not salvaged, as he has been unconvinced by the project.

“He has also become aware of opportunities that may lie elsewhere. Liverpool’s interest is genuine, while Real Madrid are also keeping an eye on how things play out.”

Spurs are on the lookout for an ambitious appointment

Over recent days, it has been suggested that the likes of Andoni Iraola, Mauricio Pochettino, and Oliver Glasner are among the leading candidates to replace Frank.

Xabi Alonso and Xavi Hernandes have also been linked with the Tottenham job, and Jones has now revealed that the Lilywhites are working to attract as big a candidate as they can get.

The journalist added about the North London club’s managerial situation: “Spurs did not anticipate having to bring in a new boss this season, but have had to start drawing up options because of Frank’s shortcomings.

“Sources indicate that Spurs would push the ceiling in terms of the type of manager they would seek to succeed Frank, and identifying true candidates is part of the reason they have been delaying a decision on whether to sack him.”
