Broncos Blocking Patriots Fans From Buying Tickets To AFC Championship
The New England Patriots are traveling to Denver to face the Denver Broncos in the AFC Championship, but their fans may find it difficult to do the same.
According to Boston 25 News’ Ray Villeda and Bryan Lambert, the Broncos are blocking Patriots fans from buying tickets to the game on Ticketmaster, the NFL’s primary ticket marketplace.
“Due to limited availability, tickets will be sold only to those with a billing address in the Rocky Mountain region, including Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, Wyoming, Nebraska, Montana, South Dakota and Western Kansas,” reads a message on Ticketmaster when fans outside the listed region try to purchase a ticket.
Patriots fans in the Northeast can still try to obtain tickets through third-party distributors like StubHub or SeatGeek, where prices may be higher. A Ticketmaster spokesperson explained the reason for the restriction on Ticketmaster.
“Sometimes teams will place geographic restrictions on certain events to give local fans the best chance to attend,” a Ticketmaster spokesperson told Boston 25. “You’d have to ask the team about any specific restrictions that may be in place.”
The Broncos will need every advantage they can get. With starting quarterback Bo Nix injured, the Patriots go into the game as favorites. A trip to the Super Bowl is on the line, and many Patriots fans will want to see their team clinch a berth in person.
Drake Maye and company will have their hands full on the road against a great Denver defense. Meanwhile, the Patriots’ defense will face Jarrett Stidham, who has not thrown a pass in a game all season.
