Broncos Have ‘Utmost Confidence’ In Jarrett Stidham Ahead Of AFCCG Against Patriots

The Denver Broncos have plenty of confidence in Jarrett Stidham ahead of the AFC Championship Game against the New England Patriots.

Denver is set to host New England on Sunday, as the Broncos advanced to the AFC Championship Game with a 33-30 overtime win over the Buffalo Bills. However, starting quarterback Bo Nix was ruled out for the rest of the season due to a broken ankle.

With Nix out, Denver will be starting Stidham, and although he hasn’t started a game since the 2023 season, tackle Mike McGlinchey has full confidence in him.

“I also am going to hammer home the confidence that (Head Coach) Sean (Payton) portrayed out there,” McGlinchey said, via the team website. “Being around ‘Stiddy’ for the last three years now, one, he’s one of my best friends, and two, the guy just loves football. He’s been absorbing everything that we’ve been doing.

“He’s (been) ready for his opportunity, whenever that may come. He stays in his routine every single day for three years straight, not knowing when that opportunity’s going to come around. I know that our team and our staff and everybody have the utmost confidence in Jarrett to play well and lead our team forward.”

Despite the Broncos having to turn to their backup quarterback, Denver is still confident heading into the AFC Championship Game.

“I think our team is in a perfect position with ‘Stiddy’ moving forward,” McGlinchey added. “We’re lucky to have him, and we’re lucky our team and our coaching staff and our front office invests in every situation that can possibly come up on a football field, because not everybody has a quarterback waiting in the wings as talented as Jarrett.”

Denver is a 5.5-point underdog at home against New England.
