Report first Mateta offer from Juventus rejected by Crystal Palace
Sky Sport Italia report that Crystal Palace have rejected the first formal Juventus offer for Jean-Philippe Mateta, as fundamental differences remain.
The striker is the first choice for coach Luciano Spalletti to reinforce his attacking options, as Dusan Vlahovic is out injured and his contract is due to expire at the end of the current campaign too.
Crystal Palace not impressed with Mateta bid
According to the reports in Italy, Juventus made the first official proposal over the last 24 hours, but it was immediately turned down.
It was for a €2m loan with option to buy at the end of the season, becoming an obligation if the Bianconeri qualify for at least the Europa League, at a further €28m.
However, Crystal Palace are determined to only sell Mateta on a permanent basis as he enters the final 18 months of his contract.
The total €30m fee is also nowhere near their asking price, which Sky Sport Italia say is €40m, although the British media put it far higher than that.
