VACANCY: Matchday Media Officer

Colwyn Bay Football Club are opening applications for a paid, part-time, Matchday Media Officer to join the club.

Reporting the the Business Development Manager, the successful candidate shall attend first-team home and away fixtures to provide match updates across the club’s social media platforms in-line with our matchday content strategy, making use of pre-prepared content whilst also possessing the ability to add a creative spark.

Key Responsibilities

Matchday Coverage

  • Provide live updates across official social media channels (e.g. X/Twitter, Instagram, Facebook)
  • Utilise real-time content including photos, short videos, and key moments
  • Ensure accurate reporting of goals, substitutions, and key incidents
  • Produce a post-match report promptly after full-time

Media Operations

  • Liaise with coaching staff, players, and the wider media team
  • Support accredited media on matchdays, where required
  • Manage media accreditation and ensure compliance with league and competition regulations

Content Creation

  • Conduct and record post-match interviews (audio/video/written)
  • Edit and upload content for the club website and social platforms
  • Maintain consistent tone, branding, and messaging across all platforms in line with the club’s brand guidelines

Preparation & Planning

  • Prepare matchday content; graphics, team line-ups etc. in-line with provided templates
  • Ensure all equipment (camera, laptop, connectivity) is match-ready
  • Coordinate with the wider media team to align coverage plans

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Strong written communication skills with attention to detail
  • Experience using social media platforms in a live sports environment
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • A strong understanding of football and matchday procedures
  • Ability to use design programmes such as Photoshop and Canva

Desirable

  • Photography and basic video editing skills
  • Experience with content management systems (CMS)
  • Understanding of media regulations

  • Highly organised and reliable
  • Flexible to work evenings and weekends
  • Confident communicator and team player
  • Passionate about football and media

Whilst initially matchday based, for the right candidate there may be an opportunity for the role to progress further.
