Defeat at TNS but top six spot is secured

0 2

THE Saguolls suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat at league leaders TNS in their game of Phase 1 in the JD Cymru Premier, but have secured a top six place with Cardiff Met only drawing 1-1 at Penybont.

The only goal of the game at Park Hall came after only two minutes when Jordan Williams scored from a low left wing cross and some top saves by Rhys Williams ensurred no further damage was done to Bay’s goal difference.

They finish in sixth place, two points clear of Cardiff Met, who were leading at half-time, but conceded a second half equaliser at Penybont and had their goalkeeper sent off late in the game.

Colwyn Bay had chances to get back on level terms with TNS, with Jordan Davies going close from a well delivered cross into the box and Aaron Williams forcing a save out of home keeper Nathan Shepperd from a long throw.

Rhys Williams, back in goal for the Bay, made a good save from Eoin Farrell and did brilliantly to save a shot at point blank range and then tip the follow up effort onto the bar

In the second half TNS again had most of the possession without creating too much and Jordan Davies had a chance to rescue a point for the Bay when he dribbled into the area, but couldn’t find the net from a narrow angle.

COLWYN BAY: Rhys Williams, Nathan Peate, Lewis Sirrell, Sol Forde, Jamie Cumming (Issa Kargbo 77), Jordan Davies, Ethan Roberts, Aaron Willims, Aron Williams (Matty Hill 58), Aeron Edwards, George Hughes. Unused subs: Luke Murphy (G), Jay Owen, Ryan Astles, Uniss Kargbo, Max McGoona.
