Bruins Sign Jonathan Aspirot To Multi-Year Extension

The Boston Bruins signed defenseman Jonathan Aspirot to a two-year extension on Sunday.

Boston announced the two-year deal runs through the 2027-28 NHL season with an annual cap hit of $887,500. The Bruins signed Aspirot to a one-year, two-way contract on July 1, 2025.

The 26-year-old has spent the last six years in the AHL and finally got his chance to make his NHL debut this season. He’s played a key role for the Bruins. Aspirot has been paired with Charlie McAvoy and has skated in 25 games, recording two goals and one assist.

Aspirot leads the Bruins in plus-minus with a plus-15 rating and has averaged 16:24 of ice time.

The extension comes hours before Boston returns to the ice on the second half of a back-to-back against the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Bruins are coming off a 10-2 home win over the New York Rangers on Saturday.

“I think the guys should enjoy the day,” Sturm said on Saturday, as seen on NESN’s postgame coverage. “They played a hell of a good hockey game. Forget about how high we scored, but we played really, really good. They should feel really good about it.”

Boston enters play on Sunday with a record of 24-19-2.
