Popular Analyst Slaps ‘Top-Five’ Label On Drake Maye Ahead Of Playoffs

The New England Patriots are rolling into the playoffs as one of the top teams in the league. And once they take the field for their wild-card matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers, all eyes are going to be on Drake Maye to see how he fares under the bright lights in the postseason.

In his first full year as a starting quarterback, Maye was simply stellar for New England. He finished the year with 4,394 yards and 31 touchdowns in the air, while also rushing for 450 yards and four more scores on the ground.

Folks everywhere have been waiting for the rug to get pulled out from underneath Maye, but to this point, he simply has been impossible to slow down. If you ask popular football analyst Mina Kimes, she thinks it’s fair to say that Maye is already a top-five quarterback in the NFL.

“I think he’s shown pretty consistently, he’s going to be a top five quarterback as long as he plays, unless something crazy happens,” Kimes said on “Patriots Daily Podcast.”

Fans have been skeptical of Maye since it’s only his second year in the NFL, but he simply may be a superstar in the making. He already has asserted himself as an MVP frontrunner, and if he keeps playing at this incredibly high level, a deep playoff run could be in the cards for the Patriots.

Maye will face a tough challenge against a stingy Chargers defense when he returns to action, but as long as he’s on the field, the Pats will have a shot to come out on top. New England’s clash vs. Los Angeles is scheduled for 8:15 p.m. ET on Sunday night.
