Confirmed Man United team news vs Burnley: Fletcher confirms Fernandes & Mount boost, six players still out

0 11

Manchester United are set to face Burnley at Turf Moor in the Premier League tomorrow.

It will be the first game for United since sacking Ruben Amorim from the managerial position.

Former midfielder Darren Fletcher will step into the dugout as caretaker for the next two fixtures, with club legend Jonny Evans alongside him on the touchline.

Ahead of the showdown, Fletcher faced the media for the first time in his new role to deliver an eagerly anticipated team update.

He said (via ManUtd.com): “Mason and Bruno were pushing to play against Leeds. The decision was that they weren’t quite ready, so they’ve trained.

“They should be back in the squad, but they’ll be on managed minutes as well, restricted minutes because obviously they’ve just returned to training.

“Mason Mount’s form has been fantastic and we don’t have to speak about Bruno.

“He’s the captain, he’s the leader of the team so to have them available for selection is great news for me and for the players and for the club and for the fans.”

Bruno Fernandes missed the last three games due to a hamstring setback.

The captain has since returned to individual training and was pushing hard for an early comeback.

Mason Mount endured a setback against Newcastle United but will now make his return tomorrow.

Kobbie Mainoo has also been doing individual training since last week but he remains unavailable.

Matthijs de Ligt and Harry Maguire are still out due to back and thigh injury issues.

Bryan Mbeumo, Amad Diallo and Noussair Mazraoui are still unavailable while representing their countries at the Africa Cup of Nations.

The Red Devils expect all three to return after the next fortnight, providing a timely boost during a packed schedule.

United have recently dropped costly points against teams battling relegation, a trend Fletcher will be desperate to halt.

Victory at Turf Moor could prove pivotal, potentially lifting United up to fourth place depending on the outcomes of other games.
