Sean Crighton welcomes First new signing to Lochinch

0 9

QUEEN’S PARK FC is delighted to announce the arrival of Callum Smith to the club.

Callum joins Sean Crighton’s squad upon the expiry of his contract at fellow William Hill Championship side Raith Rovers, and will be eligible for today’s trip to Ayr.

The striker played alongside his new head coach at Airdrie where he hit double figures in consecutive seasons before a move to Kirkcaldy two and a half years ago.

Callum has played against the Spiders 14 times but will now don the black and white kit once worn by his brother Connor for a loan spell in 2021-22.

The 26-year-old said: “I actually spoke to Connor when this opportunity came up.

“I played at The city Stadium earlier this season too so I’ve seen the changing room, the facilities and the pitch was lovely, I’m looking forward to playing on it again.

“I’ve had my first session with the boys and now I can’t wait for the games to come.”

Head coach Sean Crighton said: “Like a lot of players I have brought in, Callum is someone I know well and know his background.

“He can play in a number of positions and has excellent work-rate and characteristics I have been looking for.

“I am firmly of the belief he will fit in with the first-team group we have built here and I know he has the quality to do well for the club.

“Bringing in another attacker was one of my priorities this month both to support the current forwards at the club and also to create competition in that area of the pitch to bring the best out of people.

“I’m delighted to bring Callum in to the group and look forward to working with him again.”
