Man Utd player ratings vs Wolves: Five 4/10s disappoint as two 7/10s saved the day for Amorim
Manchester United were held to a frustrating 1-1 draw with Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League at Old Trafford.
Manager Ruben Amorim was forced to make yet another change to his starting XI due to injury.
Mason Mount was not fit to play and was replaced by Joshua Zirkzee.
Amorim deployed a 3-4-2-1 formation, surprising many who expected him to stay with his back-four system.
The Red Devils lacked urgency in the final third but a deflected shot allowed Zirkzee to break the deadlock.
Ladislav Krejci headed Wolverhampton Wanderers level on the cusp of half-time.
United came close to finding the net but Wolves showed bravery and won only their third point of the campaign.
This draw is set to pile pressure on Amorim as United should have won this game easily.
Player Ratings
Senne Lammens – 7/10
Made two good saves just before half-time but could not stop the equaliser.
His standout moment came in the 60th minute when he produced a big hand to keep out the initial strike before reacting well to stop Wolves from scoring on the rebound.
Diogo Dalot – 4/10
Frequently found himself alongside Sesko in advanced areas, showing how positionally unaware he was.
Ayden Heaven – 7/10
Won the ball back intelligently before surging forward and setting up Zirkzee’s goal. His energy and decision-making stood out, which made his late withdrawal in the second half a puzzling call.
Lisandro Martinez – 6/10
Played a couple of incisive diagonal passes for Dalot that might have been converted on another day. This was his first full 90 minutes of the season.
Luke Shaw – 6/10
Often pushed higher up the pitch than Dorgu and caused problems with several dangerous deliveries into the box.
Patrick Dorgu – 4/10
The Dane was once again deployed at left wing-back and lost his man for the equalising goal.
He thought he had scored late on, but the effort was correctly ruled out for offside.
Casemiro – 6/10
Regularly switched play and carved out a sublime chance for Sesko. He needed greater movement and support around him to truly dictate the game, but was ultimately let down by those ahead of him.
Manuel Ugarte – 5/10
Failed to replicate the urgency and intensity he showed against Newcastle, often looking a step off the pace in midfield.
Joshua Zirkzee – 4/10
Zirkzee started in the right-sided number 10 spot and played without any intensity from the first minute.
His deflected shot helped him score his second goal of the campaign but Amorim was right to brutally take him off at the break.
Matheus Cunha – 4/10
The Brazilian won a couple of free-kicks early on but faded badly as the game progressed, struggling to impose himself in the final third.
Benjamin Sesko – 6/10
Sesko came agonisingly close to breaking the deadlock after creating a chance out of nothing.
He was unlucky to see his headed effort crash off the post, but he should have done better when presented with a clear opportunity from Casemiro’s pass.
Substitutes
Jack Fletcher – 4/10
A poor display from the midfielder. He often played too safe, despite United searching for a winner.
Bendito Mantato – 5/10
Made his debut at the age of just 17.
Leny Yoro – 6/10
An assured cameo from the young Frenchman.
