Confirmed Man United XI vs Wolves: Amorim makes one change, Zirkzee in & Mount out

0 0

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has named his starting line-up for today’s Premier League encounter against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Old Trafford.

The Portuguese coach has been forced into just one change from the side that edged past Newcastle United 1–0 on Boxing Day.

United are without Bryan Mbeumo, Amad Diallo and Noussair Mazraoui, all of whom are away representing their countries at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Harry Maguire and Matthijs de Ligt have missed the last few games due to thigh and back injuries respectively.

Captain Bruno Fernandes also misses out after suffering a hamstring setback at Villa Park.

A lingering calf issue continues to keep Kobbie Mainoo on the sidelines, although the 20-year-old is edging closer to a return.

Senne Lammens retains his spot between the sticks.

The Belgium international will be high on confidence after keeping his second clean sheet in the last encounter.

Today presents a golden chance for Lammens to claim back-to-back shutouts for the first time in a United shirt.

Diogo Dalot and Luke Shaw operate in their natural full-back positions, with Amorim trusting the 4-2-3-1 system again.

Ayden Heaven and Lisandro Martinez start at the heart of the defence.

Heaven caught the eye against Newcastle with a commanding display and was a worthy recipient of the Man of the Match award.

Casemiro and Manuel Ugarte start in midfield again.

Ugarte was outstanding against the Magpies, and another assured performance could mark a crucial step in reviving his United career.

Matheus Cunha is fielded on the left wing, with Patrick Dorgu keeping his spot on the opposite flank.

The Denmark international proved to be the match-winner on Boxing Day.

Joshua Zirkzee comes in for Mason Mount in the number 10 spot.

Mount suffered an undisclosed injury and was taken off at half-time against Newcastle.

Amorim confirmed in the pre-match press conference yesterday that Mount may not be available for this fixture.

Benjamin Sesko will hope to add a goal to his name today as he leads the attack for the home side.

Confirmed Man United line-up (4-2-3-1): Senne Lammens; Diogo Dalot, Ayden Heaven, Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw; Casemiro, Manuel Ugarte; Patrick Dorgu, Matheus Cunha, Joshua Zirkzee; Benjamin Sesko
